About us....

Welcome,

Peace to you from the pastor and members of the Whitesboro Church. We welcome you to grow with us in faith and in service to the community.

We share an uncomplicated faith based on the knowledge that every one of us is loved by God.
God provides for our needs yet cannot spare us from all of the suffering in this world. Jesus Christ entered the world to defeat every power that separates us from God. When we call, God will answer and heal us. When we put our full faith in God nothing in this life can defeat us. Praise be to God who wishes only good to all those who trust in our Redeemer.

Worship, prayer and study are all ways our faith grows stronger.
We meet for worship at 10 AM Sunday mornings year round. Usually we meet in our sanctuary but we also worship outside a couple times during the summer, and in the air conditioned fellowship hall if it gets too hot. We welcome children and youth in worship. During the school year young people begin worship in the sanctuary and then may leave after their special lesson to their own classes. Worship is followed by a social time with refreshments.

Music is an important element in worship and includes both traditional favorites and contemporary pieces.

We believe in the power of prayer. Prayer is a central part of our worship service. Small groups meet for prayer and Bible study on Wednesday evenings during the school year. We celebrate God’s grace as many of us have experienced healing. Periodically through the year we also join for book studies.

The pastor and deacons regularly take communion to the homes of those who request it.

Serving God is central to our faith.
Our church is well known for the Thread of Life Thrift Store which is located on Oriskany Boulevard. All profits from the store are used to fund local projects including college scholarships, the work of the Presbyterian Home, and help to local schools. This is an all volunteer effort and new volunteers are always needed.

The many other outreach projects include cooking for Hope House which provides meals to the hungry: contributions to Hall House which provides care for women and children who have been victims of domestic violence; and even obedience classes for dogs. (Yes, God does care for the animals!) We believe that we all have gifts that are to be used for the common good. Whatever your gifts, there are opportunities for you to put them to use for the common good.

We still like to have fun.
Christianity does not require us to be serious all the time. The chief purpose of life is to enjoy God. We have monthly outings to all kinds of places, sporting events, and concerts. We play our own version of “Win It In a Minute” and we like cookies and cakes. We all need at times to lay down our daily responsibilities and just enjoy the lives we have been given.

You are invited to grow with us.
Sometimes in our lives we become so busy that we don’t think we have time, yet those who make time for acts of faith will be renewed. We often turn to the Bible for encouragement. Jeremiah the prophet wrote, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says God, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” We trust in this promise. Come and visit or just call the pastor to talk. We will make you welcome.
